LYNDON JOHNSON BUTTON
In 1967, artist Peter Hurd was assigned to paint the official White House presidential portrait of President Lyndon Baines Johnson; but, when the picture was completed, LBJ rejected it, saying it was "the ugliest thing I ever saw." This quickly became a comedy saying for nearly everything; and eventually wound up on this 1960s protest pin.
